About Shamous’es Rock.

untitled

Owner Terry Hiatt

With nearly every iota of available space concealed by a variety of rocks, Shamous’es Rock’s exudes an obvious love of the natural world.

Owner Terry Hiatt, renowned as Shamous, brought his passion for rocks to Seaside when he moved here four years ago to be with his family. His time-honored fascination with rocks has saturated his life since the age of twelve, prompting him to attend countless rock digs, shops, and conventions. Shamous augments his hands-on experience over theoretical knowledge of rocks, attributing his keen ability to detect and identify rocks to this practical method.

Shamous’es Rock’s has been open for two and a half years, attracting a vibrant spectrum of customers from rock enthusiasts to curious teenagers.

Reprinting a few rav reviews:

Amazing selection, great owner, rare rocks and really great prices. Very wise and knowledgeable guy behind the counter! So happy with the experience.

What a great little shop, ran by a kind rock hound who loves his calling. I really enjoyed visiting with him and learning about rocks and minerals and trinkets.

This store has it all, and the owner is very knowledgeable. Towns like Seaside become family favorites because of experiences with business owners like this one.

We strolled into this lapidary shop as I’m a fan of rocks. This place has everything from $1 tumbled stones, to thousands of dollars in rare, beautiful cut slabs that have been polished. They even had a whole, fossilized turtle shell.
The man who runs the place is a font of knowledge. He finds some of the rocks himself and brings in some from other sources, but he clearly knows what he sells and what is available well. He also offers to slice rocks open for a small fee, for you. If you are traveling along Hwy 101, this rock shop is a stop you need to make.
